Mount Macedon Fungi

If you are in the region of Victoria and in and around Melbourne, many people will know of Mt Macedon and how popular it is in the Autumn.

A lot of the popularity is due to Honour Avenue, which people and photographers flock to around April/May to caputure the autumn leaves on the trees on this lovely street as they change. Also popular around this time are the Open Gardens that become available for people to visit, as well as The Cross at the top of the mountain. There are also other things to check out at this time of year as well.

Another lovely area to visit during in Autumn is Sanitorium Lake and its surround area. From Day Picnic Area and around Sanitorium Lake is forest area that is well known for its fungi. People come during this time to hunt out the fungi and particularly if you like to take photos. Capturing these sometime tiny little bundles of fungi is extremely fun.

At the beginning of May, I did exactly this to see what was around – and I was pleasantly surprise at what was there already. Here are some of the fungi I was able to capture on the day.
